Our Free Cut COB LED Strip gives you complete control over where you cut — unlike traditional strips with fixed cutting points, this cut-anywhere COB LED strip can be trimmed at any point along its length, not just at pre-marked intervals. That means a genuinely perfect fit for bespoke installations where standard cut points simply don't line up.

Why Choose our Free Cut COB LED Strip?

Custom cabinetry, intricate coves, and any project where precision matters down to the millimetre — this is exactly where a Free Cut COB LED Strip earns its name. Cut it exactly where your design calls for it, not wherever the nearest marked point happens to be.

Specification

See the table for exact figures — here's what they mean for your project. Running at 24V keeps this strip compatible with our standard 24V driver range, so sizing your power supply is straightforward. At 9W per metre, it's a moderate output well suited to accent and joinery lighting rather than a primary light source. Rated IP20, it's built for indoor, dry areas only — if your project needs an external or bathroom-rated strip, we offer IP67 options — please contact us for details. Compatible with our opal diffuser LED profiles, which soften and evenly spread the light, with a small, expected reduction in output as a result.

Free Cut COB LED Strip Colour Temperatures

Our Free Cut COB LED Strip is available in three colour temperatures, so you can match the light to your project as precisely as the cut itself:

  • 3000K (Warm White) — a continuous, uninterrupted warm flow, ideal for customised joinery and furniture lighting.
  • 4000K (Natural White) — a versatile neutral tone, maintaining professional clarity over complex, custom-cut pathways.
  • 6000K (Cool White) — a crisp, geometric glow suited to modern, custom-fit architectural installations.

How to Control Your Free Cut COB LED Strip

Free Cut LED strips can be switched using an LED-compatible wall switch rated for the driver's load. For additional control — dimming or scheduling — pair with one of our controllers: choose our WiFi LED Controller for direct phone control, or our Zigbee LED Controller for a mesh-based smart home system compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa. We also offer a range of wireless wall controls and remotes — contact us to find out more.

Joining and Extending Runs

Need to join two lengths or turn a corner? Our solderless COB connectors are available in a range of styles — including strip-to-strip, strip-to-wire and 90-degree corner connectors — browse our connector range for a clean join with no soldering required.

Frequently asked questions

Can this strip be dimmed?
Yes, when paired with a compatible dimmable driver and either a wall dimmer switch rated for LED loads or one of our controllers.

Can I really cut this anywhere, not just at marked points?
Yes — that's what makes it Free Cut. This strip can be trimmed at any point along its length.

Can this be used outdoors?
This strip is IP20 rated, suitable for indoor, dry areas only. If your project needs an external or bathroom-rated strip, we offer IP67 options — please contact us for details.

What's the difference between this and your Free Cut Premium Pro?
Both share the same 528 LEDs per metre density and cut-anywhere flexibility — Premium Pro steps up to 14W per metre for higher output, while this range runs at 9W per metre.

Do I need to worry about voltage drop on long runs?
As a general guide, we recommend a maximum single run of 10m before voltage drop becomes noticeable — beyond this, the far end of the run can appear dimmer than the end nearest the driver. For runs longer than 10m, power the strip from both ends or use a mid-point power injection connection. Get in touch and we'll help make sure your specific setup is powered correctly.

Installation & Notes

❗ Crucial Installation & Warranty Notes (Must Read)

To ensure the long-term performance of your strip and to validate the 5-Year Ultimate LED’s Warranty, two components are mandatory. Failure to adhere to these specifications will void the warranty:

  1. LED Driver (Power Supply): An appropriate 24V DC LED driver is essential. The driver must be a quality, regulated power supply certified for LED use. Your warranty is contingent on the driver providing stable, consistent 24V DC output and the driver’s wattage correctly matching or exceeding the total strip load.
  2. Aluminum LED Profile (Heatsink): Installation in a suitable aluminum profile is strongly recommended. The profile must provide adequate heat dissipation to protect the COB chips from overheating. Damage resulting from thermal runaway due to non-use or inadequate heatsinking will not be covered.

Note on Cutting and Connection: Once the strip is cut, it will require a connection to power. This must be done using a secure connection method. See our Accessories section for our full range of connectors or professional soldering guidance.
